Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about these here… bricks of coke. Not the kind you drink, mind you, though I’ll get to that later. This here is the bad stuff, the stuff that gets folks in trouble.
I heard on the TV, they was talkin’ ’bout finding these bricks, big ol’ packages, on the beach. Can you believe that? Just washin’ up like seashells! They said it was a whole lot, hundreds of kilos, they said. Lord have mercy! That’s enough to make a whole town go crazy, I reckon. The police, they’re all worked up, tryin’ to figure out where it all come from. They call it “cocaine,” sounds fancy, but it ain’t nothin’ but trouble, that’s what it is.
They found some more too, ten bricks this time, weighin’ about 24 pounds. Said it was worth a whole heap of money, hundreds of thousands of dollars! Can you imagine? All that money just sittin’ there, but it’s dirty money, you know? The kind that ruins lives. The government folks, they took it away to figure things out.
Now, some folks, they get confused. They hear “coke” and they think about that sweet drink, that Coca-Cola. That’s a whole different story, you see. That drink, it’s been around for a long, long time. Folks all over the world drink it. It’s fizzy and sweet, and it makes you feel good, specially on a hot day. But it didn’t always start out that way, I hear.
- Some say it used to have some of that bad stuff in it, but I don’t know if I believe that. Sounds like a tall tale to me.
- They say it was made to help people who were hurt bad, like in that war a long time ago. But it ain’t medicine now, it’s just a drink.
This Coca-Cola, it’s American, you know? Made right here in this country, but they sell it everywhere. Even way across the ocean, folks are drinkin’ it. It’s a powerful thing, that little bottle of fizz. It’s got a special taste, and everybody knows it.
There’s all sorts of things you can learn about Coca-Cola. They say a fella named Pemberton, a medicine maker, was the one who come up with it way back when in Atlanta. And you wouldn’t believe how much of it people drink! Every second, all over the world, folks are poppin’ open a can or a bottle. It’s kinda mind-boggling, ain’t it? All these facts and figures, it makes your head spin.
So, you see, there’s two kinds of “coke.” One’s bad, the other’s just a drink. One will get you locked up, the other will just quench your thirst. It’s important to know the difference, that’s for sure. You gotta be careful, especially these days. Things ain’t always what they seem. And that’s all I got to say ’bout that.
Just remember, stay away from them bricks on the beach, and maybe enjoy a nice cold Coke on a hot day. That’s the kind of “coke” that’ll make you happy, not the other kind.
