Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about bricks cheap, alright? Folks always lookin’ to save a penny or two, and bricks ain’t no different. You wanna build somethin’, you gotta start somewhere, and bricks is often the start of it all, houses, walls, you name it.
Now, I ain’t no fancy builder or nothin’, but I seen my share of brick buyin’ and usin’. First thing you gotta know is where to look. Them big stores, like Home Depot and Lowe’s, they got bricks alright. They got all kinds, fancy ones, plain ones, fire bricks for your fireplace. But is they cheap? Sometimes, maybe, sometimes not so much. You gotta watch them prices, they change like the weather.
They got them regular bricks, they call ’em common bricks, strong and sturdy they say. And they got them fire bricks, for keepin’ warm. You can find ’em at Lowe’s, they say, free shippin’ if you spend enough. But don’t go gettin’ all excited, sometimes them “deals” ain’t all they cracked up to be. Always compare, that’s what I say.
And then there’s places like Brickworks, they got all sorts of bricks too. Handmade ones, thin ones, face bricks, all sound mighty fancy. But fancy don’t always mean better, and it sure don’t always mean cheap. You gotta look around, ask around, see what’s what.
- Look for sales: Stores have sales all the time, gotta keep your eyes peeled.
- Consider used bricks: Ain’t nothin’ wrong with used bricks, sometimes they’re even better, already worn in, you know? Places like Acme, they got surplus bricks, might be a little off color, but who cares? They still do the job.
- Don’t be afraid to haggle: If you’re buyin’ a lot, you can always try to get a better price. Ain’t no harm in askin’.
Now, them red clay bricks, them’s the ones I’m most familiar with. They used to be cheap, but now they sayin’ they gone up in price. Somethin’ about the cost of makin’ ‘em, the work and the fuel, all gone up. Everything’s goin’ up these days, ain’t it?
But don’t you worry, there’s still ways to get bricks cheap. You just gotta be smart about it. Don’t just go for the first thing you see. Like I said, look for them sales, them used bricks. And don’t be afraid to ask around, see if anyone’s got some extras they wanna get rid of. You’d be surprised what you can find.
Back in my day, we didn’t have all these fancy stores. We made our own bricks, ya know? Out of mud and straw. Took a lot of work, but it was cheap. Nowadays, folks don’t wanna get their hands dirty, but that’s where you can sometimes find the real bargains. Someone tearing down an old building? Maybe they got bricks they don’t need. Go on and ask, the worst they can say is no.
And remember, cheap bricks don’t mean bad bricks. You can build just as good a wall with used bricks as you can with new ones. It’s all about how you use ’em. And if you’re lucky enough to find some real cheap ones, well, that just means you got more money left over for other things, like maybe some nice flowers to plant around your new brick wall.
So, when you’re lookin’ for bricks cheap, just keep your eyes open and your wits about ya. Don’t be fooled by fancy talk or fancy prices. There’s deals to be had out there, you just gotta find ’em. And remember, a good sturdy brick wall don’t need to cost a fortune. It just needs good strong bricks, and a little bit of know-how.
Inventory at them stores can change too, so if you don’t see what you want today, maybe they got it tomorrow. And don’t forget, them prices they show ya, sometimes they’re just for the store you’re in, another store might have a different price. So, it pays to shop around, that’s what I always say.
Bricks is bricks, whether they new or used, fancy or plain. They all do the same job, holdin’ things up, keepin’ things out. And if you can find ’em cheap, well, that’s just the icing on the cake, ain’t it?
