Hey everyone, it’s your boy back again with another DIY project. So, I’ve been wanting to build a fire pit in my backyard for a while now. I finally got around to it, and let me tell you, finding where to buy fire bricks was a bit of a journey. I figured I’d share my experience to save you all some time and hassle.
First, I hit up the usual suspects, like the big-name home improvement stores. You know the ones I’m talking about. I browsed through their websites and even went in-store to check out what they had. They did have some bricks, but nothing specifically labeled as “fire bricks.” I asked an employee, and they weren’t too sure either. They were pointing me to regular bricks, but I knew those wouldn’t cut it for a fire pit. Needed something that could handle some serious heat.
Then, I started digging deeper online. I found a bunch of articles talking about the importance of using refractory bricks for fire pits. Apparently, these bricks are designed to withstand super high temperatures without cracking or breaking down. That’s exactly what I needed!
Online Retailers
- I checked out some online retailers, and a few of them had some options. The prices were a little all over the place, from like 20 bucks to over 200 for a pack.
- I saw some heavy-duty refractory fire bricks that were rated for 3200F, which sounded pretty legit.
- There were also some insulated kiln bricks that looked promising.
After comparing prices and reading reviews, I decided to go with a pack of high-density, heavy-duty fire bricks. They were rated for 3180F, which seemed more than enough for my little fire pit project. They weren’t the cheapest, but I figured it was worth investing in quality bricks that would last.
I placed my order, and they arrived a few days later. They were definitely heavier than regular bricks, which gave me some confidence. I got to work building my fire pit, and let me tell you, those fire bricks were a game-changer. They held up great, and the fire pit turned out awesome.
So, if you’re planning on building a fire pit, a forge, or anything that involves high temperatures, definitely make sure you get the right kind of bricks. Don’t just settle for regular bricks; look for refractory fire bricks. They might cost a bit more, but trust me, it’s worth it in the long run. You can find them online, or maybe at some specialty stores. Just do your research, compare prices, and you’ll be good to go. Happy building, folks!
