Okay, so I’ve been messing around with some home improvement stuff, and I wanted to share my little adventure with brick mortar. I had this old wall in my backyard that was looking pretty rough, and I figured, why not try to fix it up myself? So, I started looking into what I needed, and obviously, brick mortar was the first thing on the list.
First, I had to find where to buy this stuff. I hopped online, did a quick search, and found a bunch of options. Some places were offering free shipping on pre-mixed mortar, which sounded pretty convenient. I also saw some stores where you could buy it online and then just pick it up. That seemed like the easiest option, especially since I wasn’t sure how much I needed.
Finding the Right Stuff
- Pre-mixed seemed like a good idea, no fuss with getting the right consistency.
- There were also these bulk pricing options, which might be good if you’re doing a big project.
- I even saw some adhesive mortar for sticking on brick veneers, which was interesting but not what I needed this time.
I ended up going to a local store. They had this mortar that’s a mix of masonry cement and sand, supposed to be super strong and long-lasting. Perfect for laying bricks, blocks, or stones, which was exactly what I was doing.
Getting My Hands Dirty
So, I bought a few bags and got to work. Mixing the mortar was a bit of a workout, but it wasn’t rocket science. I just followed the instructions on the bag, adding water until it felt right. Then, I started slapping it on the bricks and setting them in place. It was kind of therapeutic, actually, seeing the wall slowly come back to life.
The End Result
It took a few days of on-and-off work, but I finally finished. The wall looks a hundred times better now, and I did it all myself. It’s not perfect, mind you, but I’m pretty proud of it. I even found some ready-to-use stuff by Bauer Polymer Cement and SikaFlex Mortar Fix for smaller fixes, which is good to know for the future.
All in all, it was a fun little project. If you’re thinking about doing some brickwork, I say go for it. It’s not as hard as it looks, and there are plenty of options out there for buying mortar, whether you want pre-mixed, bulk, or even special adhesive types. Just make sure you get the right stuff for your project, and you’ll be good to go!
