Okay, guys, let’s talk about how I built my own outdoor grill. It was a fun project, and I think you can do it too!
Get the Stuff Ready
First, I gathered all the things I needed. You know, like bricks, mortar, and some metal grates for the actual grilling part. I made a quick drawing of what I wanted it to look like – nothing fancy, just a simple box shape. I measured the space in my backyard to make sure I had enough room. I wanted the grill to be big enough to cook for my family and some friends.
Lay the Foundation
Next, I dug a shallow hole where the grill was gonna go and filled it with gravel. Then, I mixed up some concrete and poured it over the gravel to make a solid base. I let it dry for a couple of days. I checked the weather, I did not want rain messing up my hard work!
Start Stacking Bricks
Once the base was ready, I started laying the bricks. I put down a layer of mortar and then placed the first row of bricks on top. I used a level to make sure everything was straight. It was a bit slow, but I was happy. I continued adding rows, staggering the bricks like you see in walls. I left some spaces for air to flow – gotta have that for the fire, right?
Add the Grill Grates
After I built the walls to the right height, I put in some metal supports for the grill grates. I made sure they were level and secure. Then, I placed the grates on top. Now it was starting to look like a real grill!
Finishing Touches
I cleaned up any extra mortar and let everything dry for a few more days. I added a little chimney to help with the smoke. After that, I fired it up! I cooked some burgers and hot dogs to test it out. They tasted amazing!
So, that’s how I built my outdoor brick grill. It took some time and effort, but it was totally worth it. Now I have a cool place to cook outside, and I did it all myself!
