Okay, so I’ve been messing around with my wood stove lately, trying to figure out the best way to keep the house warm without constantly feeding it logs. I heard about these things called “wood bricks,” and I figured, why not give them a shot? Here’s how it went down.
Getting Started
First, I needed to find some of these wood bricks. I checked out a few local hardware stores and finally found some. They looked pretty dense, like tightly packed sawdust. I grabbed a few packs – they weren’t super cheap, but I was curious to see if they lived up to the hype.

The Experiment
I Started a fire by using fire starter, then I loaded up the stove with a few of the wood bricks. I made sure to leave some space between them for airflow, just like I do with regular logs.
At the begining, I must be honest that I am a little bit worried. I concerned that it may not light up, and questioned that I may make a wrong dicision.
Then I Observed. I noticed that they caught fire pretty easily. They didn’t flame up like crazy, though. Instead, they started glowing and smoldering. It was a different kind of burn than I was used to seeing with logs.

The Results
- Long Burn Time: These things burned for a surprisingly long time. I didn’t have to add more fuel nearly as often as I do with logs.
- Consistent Heat: The heat output was really steady. It wasn’t a roaring fire, but more of a consistent, even warmth.
- Less Ash: I also noticed that there was way less ash leftover compared to when I burn regular firewood. That’s a big plus for cleanup!
My Thoughts
Honestly, I’m pretty impressed with these wood bricks. They’re definitely more convenient than dealing with cords of wood. Although it may not product the crazy fire like firewood, it is more controlable, and that’s all I need.
I’m thinking I’ll probably use a mix of wood bricks and regular logs going forward. The bricks are great for keeping a consistent temperature, especially overnight, while the logs are nice for when I want a more visually appealing fire.
If you’re using a wood stove, I’d say give these wood bricks a try. They might just surprise you!
