Okay, here is my sharing about brick making, hope you guys like it:
Yesterday, my friend Tom and I decided to make some bricks. We had no idea how to make them at first, but we were determined to figure it out.
We started by finding some clay near a riverbank. It was a messy job, digging and carrying the heavy, wet clay. After gathering enough, we moved on to the next step.
We found an old jaw crusher in the shed. After cleaning up, we used it to crush the large chunks of clay into smaller pieces. It was tough work, but seeing the clay transform was pretty satisfying.
Then, we mixed the crushed clay with water. We stomped on it, like making wine, until it reached a good, workable consistency. It felt like a workout, and we were laughing the whole time.
Shaping the Bricks
Once the clay mixture was ready, we started shaping the bricks. We found some old wooden molds and pressed the clay into them. We made sure to pack the clay tightly to avoid air pockets.
- We pressed the clay into molds.
- We smoothed the surfaces.
- We carefully removed the bricks from the molds.
Drying and Firing
After shaping, we laid the bricks out in the sun to dry. This took a few days, and we checked on them regularly, turning them over to ensure even drying.
Finally, we built a makeshift kiln using some old stones and fired the bricks. It was a long process, keeping the fire going for hours. The anticipation was high, and when we finally pulled out the finished bricks, it was a moment of triumph.
These bricks weren’t perfect, but they were ours. We learned a lot and had a blast doing it. It’s amazing to think that such a simple process can create something so durable and useful.
