Well, howdy there! Let’s yak a bit about them… uh… whatchamacallits… brick series thingamajigs. You know, them little plastic blocks folks go crazy over.
The Big Sets and the Little Sets
Now, I ain’t no expert, mind you, but I’ve seen my grandkids fiddlin’ with these things for years. Seems like there’s all sorts of sets. Some are big as a breadbox, and some are just a handful of pieces. They got these “Ultimate Collector Series” ones, real fancy-like, and some “Master Builder” ones, too. Sounds mighty important, don’t it? Then there’s these “Modular Series” ones, been around a long time, they say. Fourteen of ’em, last I heard. Folks collect ’em like they’re gonna strike gold or somethin’. Keeps ’em in boxes, never even play with ’em! Goes to show, different strokes for different folks.
I seen some folks buildin’ all sorts of contraptions. Castles, cars, even them spacey thingamajigs. Reminds me of my ol’ man buildin’ chicken coops. Same kinda idea, I reckon, just a lot more colorful. And these LEGO folks, they like to bring back old designs, too. Like them old-timey dresses, they come back in style every now and then. Good for them, I guess. Keeps folks buyin’, don’t it?
- Big sets are for show-offs, I reckon.
- Little sets are for the young’uns.
- Some folks just like to collect ’em all, like they ain’t got nothin’ better to do.
Where to Get Them Bricks
Now, if you’re lookin’ to get your hands on these bricks, you got a few choices. There’s this thing called “Pick-A-Brick.” Sounds like you can just grab whatever you want, like pickin’ apples in an orchard. Good if you’re makin’ your own thing, not followin’ no instructions. And they say the price don’t change much, no matter what color you pick. That’s good, I guess. ‘Cause some of them colors, they get real fancy and expensive.
Then there’s this “Bricklink” place. Sounds like a chain of stores, but I ain’t never been. Heard it’s good for findin’ them old, rare pieces. But they can cost you a pretty penny, I betcha. Then there’s the “Bricks & Pieces” deal. That’s where you go if you lost a piece or broke one. Like gettin’ spare parts for your tractor, you know?
The Value of Them Blocks
Now, some of these sets, they can be worth a whole lot of money. Specially if they’re still in the box, all sealed up. Or if they’re one of them limited-edition deals. Like them fancy plates grandma used to keep in the china cabinet, only for special occasions. They say the bigger the set, the more it’s worth. I heard tell of one set, a map of the world, had over eleven thousand pieces! Lordy, that’s a lot of plastic! And them “Ninjago” sets, the kids love them. Gotta be somethin’ special about ’em.
So, What’s the Big Deal?
So, what’s the fuss all about? Well, I reckon it’s just folks havin’ fun. Buildin’ things, collectin’ things, showin’ off their fancy sets. Same as it ever was, just with little plastic bricks instead of stamps or dolls or whatever folks used to collect. And as long as it keeps folks happy and out of trouble, I guess it ain’t hurtin’ nobody.
Keepin’ Up with the Times
Even though I don’t really get it, I see my grandkids havin’ a blast with these brick thingies. They build and build, and then tear it all down and start all over again. Keeps them busy, that’s for sure. And the way things are goin’, it don’t seem like this brick craze is gonna slow down anytime soon. So, I guess I’ll just sit here on the porch and watch the young’uns have their fun. Maybe one day, they’ll build me a brick porch swing.
That’s about all I got to say about these bricks. They’re just… bricks, far as I can tell. But folks seem to like ’em, and that’s all that matters. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go check on my chickens.
