Okay, so, today I want to talk about this thing called a “brick wedge.” Sounds fancy, right? But trust me, it’s not that complicated. I got into this whole thing because I was trying to do some stuff around the house. You know, little projects here and there.
First off, I had to figure out what this brick wedge even was. Turns out, it’s basically a brick that’s shaped kind of funny. Not like your normal rectangular brick. This one is all slanted and stuff. Anyway, I needed some for this project I was working on, so I started looking around to see where I could get them and how much they cost.
I started hitting up some local hardware stores and some of those big home improvement places. Here’s what I found out: these things aren’t super expensive, but the price can change a lot depending on where you go. I saw some for as low as, like, 25 cents each. But then some places were trying to sell them for way more, like up to $30 a piece! Can you believe that? Some of those companies are wildin’. Most of the ones I found were around 55 cents each. Not too bad, I guess.
I also checked out what it would cost to have someone else do the work for me. Turns out, that’s a whole different story. I saw some numbers for, like, brick edging installation, and they were talking about, like, $21 to $28 per linear foot. I don’t even know. It seems they can give different prices. I didn’t really need that, though, so I just focused on buying the bricks myself.
But then I started thinking about using these things for a driveway. That’s when things got real interesting. I found out that a brick driveway, if you get someone to install it, could cost, like, $10 to $30 per square foot! It’s about $11,500 for a two-car driveway. That’s a lot of money. For a regular 12 by 25 foot driveway, we’re talking between $3,000 and $9,000. And for a bigger one, like 24 by 40 feet, it could be anywhere from $9,600 to $28,800. Crazy, right?
- I went to a few different stores.
- I looked at prices online, too.
- I compared the costs of different types of bricks.
- I even thought about using them for a driveway.
In the end, I decided to keep it simple. I just got a few of these brick wedges for my little project. I didn’t go crazy or anything. But it was definitely a learning experience. I mean, who knew there was so much to know about bricks? They say a set of irons can cost you between $400 and $1,200, which is insane. I think those golf things can be even more expensive than bricks. But whatever. This is a different thing. I also learned about setting up scaffolding and removing mortar. Anyway, I hope this was helpful. Maybe next time you need some bricks, you’ll remember this and not get ripped off.
