Listen up, y’all, let me tell ya ’bout this Brickell Arch thing. I don’t know much ’bout fancy buildin’s, but this one, it’s somethin’ else. They call it the Brickell Arch, or somethin’ like Espirito Santo Plaza. Sounds all highfalutin, don’t it? But lemme tell ya, it’s just a big ol’ archway, right there on Brickell Avenue.
Now, I seen some pictures of it, you know, on them interweb things. Folks takin’ all sorts of photos. Some are real pretty, all bright and shiny. Others, well, they just look like a bunch of bricks to me. But I guess that’s the point, right? It’s an arch made of bricks. Who knew bricks could be so fancy?
- They say it was built in 2004. That’s a long time ago, I reckon.
- And some fellas named Kohn Pedersen Fox, somethin’ like that, they designed it. Sounds like a bunch of city slickers to me.
This arch, it’s got this big entrance. Real grand, they say. But to me, it’s just a big doorway. Ain’t nothin’ special ’bout a doorway, is there? I mean, every house has got one. But I guess this one’s bigger, and fancier, and made of more bricks than your average doorway. Folks keep takin’ pictures of it, so it must be somethin’ special, I suppose.
I seen some fella, Mark Haworth, he takes pictures too. He’s got all sorts of pictures, not just of this arch thing. He takes pictures of people, and golf, and fancy clothes, and houses. He’s a real picture takin’ fool, that one. But he got some good ones of the Arch, I gotta say. Real clear, you can see every brick.
And then there’s this fella Chris Pozil, he’s got a whole board on Pinterest just for arches. He seems to like ’em. I don’t get it, but to each their own, I always say. He’s got pictures of all sorts of arches, not just this Brickell one. But the Brickell one, it’s in there too. Can’t miss it, big and brick-y as it is.
Now, these pictures, they ain’t just for lookin’ at, mind you. Some folks, they sell ’em. Like this Shutterstock place. They got millions of pictures, and they sell ’em to whoever wants ’em. And they got pictures of the Brickell Arch too. You can buy ’em, if you want. I don’t know why you would, but you can. It’s your money, do what you want with it.
This Brickell Arch, it’s a unique thing, they say. Visually and architecturally somethin’ or other. Big words, I tell ya. But I guess it means it looks different than all the other buildin’s around it. And that Gaedeke Group, they got somethin’ to do with it too. They’re in Dallas, Texas, far as I know. Don’t know what they do, but they’re mixed up in it somehow.
Anyways, that’s all I know ’bout this Brickell Arch. It’s a big brick archway on Brickell Avenue, built a while back, designed by some fancy fellas, and folks like takin’ pictures of it. It’s a unique thing, I guess. Not my cup of tea, but hey, I’m just an old woman. What do I know ’bout fancy arches?
So, if you’re ever in Miami, go take a look at it yourself. Maybe you’ll see somethin’ I didn’t. Maybe you’ll understand why folks are so keen on takin’ pictures of it. Or maybe you’ll just see a bunch of bricks, like me. Either way, it ain’t gonna hurt nobody to look, right?
And if you do take a picture, make sure it’s a good one. Don’t want no blurry brick pictures, now do we? Get that light right, and snap that picture. Maybe you can sell it to that Shutterstock fella. Make a little money on the side. Never hurts to have a little extra cash, I always say.
So, there you have it. My two cents on the Brickell Arch. Not much, I know, but it’s all I got. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make some supper. All this talk about bricks and arches has made me hungry. I’m thinkin’ I might have some leftover cornbread. That sounds good right now.
And remember, a picture’s worth a thousand words, or so they say. But sometimes, a few words from an old woman is all you need. You don’t need no fancy talk or big words to understand a pile of bricks. It’s just a pile of bricks, arranged real nice. That’s all there is to it.
