Well now, let’s talk about them bricks, you know, the things they build houses with. I ain’t no fancy engineer or nothin’, but I know a thing or two ’bout them ’cause I seen ’em used my whole life.
Them bricks, they ain’t just mud, ya know. They got stuff in ’em, like, uh, alumina, silica, and some other things I can’t even pronounce. Sounds like fancy words for dirt to me, but they say it makes the bricks strong. They mix it all up and then they bake it, like bread, but way hotter. Hotter than my old oven, that’s for sure, makes them bricks hard as a rock.
Now, they got different kinds of bricks, too. Some are just plain old clay bricks. Them’s the ones I see most often. But then they got them, what they call ’em, flyash bricks. Heard they use some kind of special stuff in them, somethin’ called “RAPIDASH”. They say it makes them bricks even better. Don’t know much about it, but sounds like it makes the bricks stick together real good when you’re building.
And then there’s breeze blocks. Them’s the ones with the holes in ‘em. Not sure why they got holes, maybe to let the wind through? Or maybe to make ’em lighter, so you don’t break your back liftin’ ’em. Anyways, they use ’em for all sorts of things, like fences and walls. You can probably get them in different sizes too, big ones, small ones, all depends on what you’re building, I guess.
Talkin’ ’bout sizes, they got all sorts. Some are big, some are small, some are skinny, some are fat. You gotta pick the right size for the job, ya know. If you’re buildin’ a big ol’ house, you need big bricks. If you’re buildin’ a little shed, you can use smaller ones. Makes sense, right?
Now, where to get them bricks? Well, that depends on how much money you got and how many you need. If you need a whole bunch, you gotta go to them brick places, what they call suppliers. They sell ‘em in bulk. You can probably get a better price that way, but you gotta haul ‘em yourself, or pay someone to do it for ya. And if you’re just needin’ a few, you can probably go to them hardware stores. They got everything there, nails, hammers, and yes, even bricks. Some folks even buy bricks online, can you believe it? Times have sure changed.
And if you’re lookin’ to save a little money, you can try to find some cheap bricks. Sometimes they got sales, or sometimes they got bricks that ain’t perfect, but they still work just fine. You gotta keep an eye out for them deals, ya know. They say you can find them on sale sometimes, they call it temporary sale, or get them from overstock, all sorts of ways to save a few pennies.
Speaking of cheap, you got to be careful where you buy from. Some places charge an arm and a leg, and some are more reasonable. I heard tell of a place called “Brick Express” that delivers the bricks right to your door, quick like. And another place called “BUCO” that has all kinds of sizes for houses and even outhouses. And then there’s “*” if you like buying stuff on the computer. Lots of places to choose from, I tell ya.
And if you’re really on a budget, you can even try to find used bricks. Sometimes people tear down old buildings, and they got bricks to spare. You can get them for cheap, maybe even free, if you’re lucky. But you gotta be careful, make sure they ain’t too beat up, otherwise your house might fall down!
So, there you have it, a little bit ’bout bricks. They ain’t fancy, but they’re important. They keep us warm and dry, and they help us build things that last. And that’s all that matters, right? Build it strong, build it to last, that’s what I always say.
Now, remember, a good brick is a strong brick, no matter where you get it from or how much you pay. Just make sure it can stand up to the weather and whatever else life throws at it.
