Okay, so I’ve been seeing these “grilling bricks” all over the place and finally decided to give them a shot. I mean, who doesn’t want an easier way to clean their grill, right?
Getting Started
First things first, I grabbed a couple of these bricks from the store. They were pretty cheap, so I figured, why not? I also made sure I had my usual grilling gear: tongs, spatula, and a good pair of gloves. Safety first, people!

The Grilling Process
I fired up my grill, like always, and cooked up some burgers and hot dogs. Nothing fancy, just a regular weeknight dinner. Once everything was cooked, I let the grill cool down a bit, but not completely. You want it to still be warm for these bricks to work their magic.
Using the Grilling Brick
This is where the “brick” comes in. I put on my gloves – this is important because the grill is still hot and the brick gets pretty messy. Then, I just started scrubbing. Seriously, I just rubbed the brick back and forth on the grates. It felt a little weird at first, kind of like using a giant eraser.
- Scrubbing: I focused on the areas with the most stuck-on food and grease.
- Pressure: I applied some decent pressure, but nothing crazy. You don’t want to break the brick or damage your grates.
- Dust: It created some dust, so I made sure to keep my face away and did it outside in a well-ventilated area.
The Results
Honestly, I was pretty impressed. The gunk came off way easier than I expected. It took a little bit of elbow grease, but way less than my usual scrubbing with a wire brush. And the grates looked really clean afterward. No leftover food bits or anything.
Cleaning Up
After I was done scrubbing, I just brushed away the dust and residue from the brick. I also gave the grates a quick wipe down with a damp cloth, just to be sure. The brick itself was pretty worn down, but I think I can probably get another use or two out of it.
Overall, I’d say these grilling bricks are definitely worth a try. They made cleaning my grill a lot less of a chore, and that’s a win in my book. I’ll probably keep using them, especially during grilling season when I’m using my grill a lot more often. Just remember to wear gloves and do it in a well-ventilated area!
