Alright, let’s yak about them popular brown brick colors, you know, the kind they use to build houses and stuff. I ain’t no fancy expert or nothin’, but I see a lot of bricks in my day, ya know, walkin’ around, lookin’ at houses. Some are pretty, some ain’t, simple as that.
So, first off, there’s that plain ol’ brown brick. Real simple, like the dirt in your garden. I reckon they call it “earthy” sometimes, if they wanna sound all highfalutin. It’s just…brown. You know, the color of a brown paper bag. Not too dark, not too light, just…brown. Builders like it ’cause it’s cheap, I guess. And folks like it ‘cause it don’t show dirt too bad. Can’t go wrong with plain brown, I always say. It’s like a good pair of work boots, gets the job done.
Then you got your darker browns. Some folks call it “chocolate” brown, which makes me think of candy, but I guess it kinda looks like that sometimes. This kind of brown brick is fancier, I think. It makes a house look…well, richer, I guess. Like them folks got more money than sense. But it’s purty, I gotta admit. It’s like a good cup of coffee, strong and dark. These dark bricks, they make a statement, ya know? They say, “Look at me, I’m a solid house.”
Now, there’s also this reddish-brown brick. It ain’t really red, not like a firetruck or nothin’, but it’s got a reddish tint to it. Reminds me of them clay pots they use for plants. It’s a warm color, makes a house look cozy, like a fireplace in the winter. I seen a lot of houses with this kinda brick, and they always look…inviting. Like you could just walk right in and they’d offer you some sweet tea. It’s cheerful, that’s what it is.

- Medium Brown: The good ol’ dirt brown. Reliable and you can’t go wrong with it.
- Dark Brown: Fancy like chocolate. Makes the house look important.

And then there’s this brick they call “Buckingham Brown” or some such nonsense. Sounds real fancy, don’t it? I saw some at the store the other day, and it was just…brown. But smooth, real smooth. Like they rubbed it with a rock or somethin’. I guess that’s what makes it “Buckingham” – the smoothness. And it was from far away, across the ocean, they said. Folks pay extra for that kinda thing, I reckon. Imported, they call it. Like it’s better just ‘cause it came from somewhere else. Makes no sense to me, but what do I know? A brick’s a brick, far as I’m concerned. Unless it’s black. Now that’s a different story.
Speaking of black, I seen some houses with black brick. Now, that’s somethin’ else. It’s not really brown, I know, but it’s dark, like the darkest brown you can imagine. Makes a house look…modern, I guess. Like them city folk houses. Not my cup of tea, but some folks like it. It’s bold, that’s for sure. Like wearin’ a bright red hat to church. Stands out, ya know? And it’s expensive, I bet. Black always is.
Anyways, when you’re pickin’ out bricks for your house, you gotta think about what you like. Don’t let them fancy names fool ya. Brown is brown, whether it’s from across the street or across the ocean. And you gotta think about your plants too, I heard. If you got dark bricks, get light-colored plants. If you got light bricks, get dark plants. Makes ‘em stand out, ya know. Like puttin’ a white flower in a dark vase, or a red one in a light vase. Common sense, really.
So there you have it, my thoughts on brown brick colors. Ain’t no expert, like I said, but I seen enough houses in my time to know a thing or two. Just remember, pick what you like, and don’t worry too much about what them fancy folks say. A house is a house, and as long as it keeps the rain out and the warmth in, that’s all that matters. And if it looks purty too, well, that’s just a bonus.
