Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about them bricks, the kind they use to build houses and stuff. I ain’t no fancy builder or nothin’, but I seen enough houses goin’ up to know a thing or two.
Now, they got these things called “first-class” bricks. Sounds mighty fancy, don’t it? Well, they say them’s the best, real strong and sturdy. Ain’t got no cracks or nothin’ wrong with ‘em. But, you gotta pay more for that, ya know. Like always, the good stuff costs more.
Then there’s what they call “structural brick”. Sounds complicated, but it ain’t. It just means they use the bricks themselves to hold the whole thing up, ya know, the walls and all. They don’t use no wood or steel frames like them city folk do. Just good ol’ bricks, stacked up nice and tight, sittin’ on a good foundation, of course. You need a good strong base, just like with pies, gotta have a good crust or it all falls apart.
- There’s all sorts of sizes too. Big ones, small ones, you name it. They got one they call “Utility Size”. That’s a big fella, let me tell ya. Bigger than your hand, even mine, and I got big hands for a woman, always workin’ in the garden, you know? Takes fewer of them big ones to cover a wall, that’s for sure.
- Then, some of them bricks got holes in ‘em. Some got big holes, some got little ones. I always wondered why they put holes in ‘em. Makes ‘em lighter, I guess. And maybe it helps keep the house cool in the summer, warm in the winter. I don’t rightly know, but that’s what I heard. They say if the holes are big, it’s “perforated”, and if they’re small, it’s still considered solid. Go figure.
Now, there’s this company, Interstate Brick they call it. Seems like they’re the big shots when it comes to makin’ these bricks. They know what they’re doin’, I reckon. They make all kinds, strong ones, pretty ones, all sorts. They say their bricks are beautiful, durable and good for the earth. I don’t know nothin’ about that “sustainable” stuff, but if it means they last a long time and don’t hurt the planet, well, that sounds good to me. And they say it don’t cost you an arm and a leg in the long run, which is important when you’re watchin’ your pennies like I do.
So, there you have it. A little bit about bricks. Not that complicated when you get right down to it. Just gotta pick the right ones for the job, and make sure they’re strong enough to hold up whatever you’re buildin’. Whether it’s a house, a wall, or just a little flower bed, bricks are a good, solid choice. And that’s all there is to it.
Just remember, good bricks make a good home. And a good home keeps you warm and safe, that’s what matters most. Just like a good cup of coffee in the morning, gotta start with the good stuff, right?
So next time you see a brick building, you’ll know a little somethin’ about it. It ain’t just a pile of rocks, it’s a home, a shelter, a place to keep the rain out and the warmth in. And that’s somethin’ to be thankful for.
