Alright, let’s talk about keeping them bricks lookin’ good, ya know? Them things ain’t gonna stay pretty all by themselves, no sir. Gotta put in a little elbow grease, as they say.
First off, keep ’em clean. Don’t go lettin’ dirt and green stuff grow all over ’em. Now, you can use some soap and water, like the kind you wash dishes with, but not too strong, mind ya. And get yourself a brush, one of them plastic ones, not the metal kind that’ll scratch everything up. Scrub, scrub, scrub, that’s the ticket. But don’t you go doin’ this when it’s freezin’ cold outside, the bricks will get wet and then freeze and crack. That’ll be a mess, I tell ya.
- Washin’ them bricks: Like I said, soap and water, and a soft brush. Easy peasy.
- No fancy stuff: Don’t need no fancy cleaners or those high-pressure sprayers, them things will just mess up your bricks. And stay away from that mean acid stuff, it’ll eat right through ’em.
Now, if you got them fancy bricks with the shiny stuff on ’em, well, that’s a whole different story. You gotta take care of that stuff, it ain’t gonna last forever. Them folks who sell that stuff say you gotta put it on again every few years. If you see cracks in the stuff between the bricks, the mortar they call it, that’s a sign you need to do somethin’ soon.
Keepin’ an eye on things is real important too. Walk around your house every now and then, look at them bricks. See any cracks? Anything lookin’ a little off? If you catch it early, it’s a whole lot easier to fix. Sometimes the water gets in there and causes trouble. You gotta seal up them cracks so the water can’t get in. There’s stuff you can buy at the store for that. Just ask the fella there, he’ll know what you need.
If you see a brick that’s all busted up, well, you gotta take it out and put a new one in. That’s a bit more work, but you can do it. Just gotta be careful not to mess up the other bricks around it. Take your time, that’s what I always say. No need to rush.
Some folks say you don’t gotta do nothin’ to bricks, but I don’t believe it. Anything left out in the weather needs a little lookin’ after now and then. It’s like a good pair of shoes, you gotta polish ’em up once in a while if you want ’em to last.
So, that’s about it. Keep ’em clean, keep ’em sealed, and keep an eye on ’em. Do that, and them bricks will last you a good long time. And that’s what we all want, right? Something that lasts.
And remember, if you ain’t sure what to do, ask somebody who knows. No shame in that. Better to ask than to mess things up worse. That’s what I always say.
Now, I gotta go make some supper. All this talk about bricks has made me hungry! You take care now, ya hear?
