Alright, let’s talk about them interstate brick colors, you know, the ones they use for buildin’ houses and stuff. I ain’t no fancy architect or nothin’, but I’ve seen enough bricks in my life to tell ya a thing or two.
Now, first off, them colors ain’t just magic, ya know? It all starts with the dirt they use, the clay and such. And how they cook ’em in them big ovens, that makes a difference too. Back in my day, we didn’t have all these fancy ways to change the colors, but now they can put stuff in the mix to make ’em look different.
From what I’ve seen, most bricks you see are gonna be red, kinda yellowish tan, brown, or sometimes even that dark, dark blue-black color. If you’re tryin’ to match some old bricks, good luck! It ain’t easy, I tell ya. You gotta get it as close as you can, and if it ain’t perfect, well, they got these stains now, like paint but for bricks. You gotta make sure the brick soaks up water though, like a sponge, otherwise the stain won’t stick. And don’t just use any old stain, get the good stuff, the kind they use for, ya know, masonry, that’s what they call it.
And the feelin’ of the brick, that’s important too. Some are smooth, some are rough, some got all sorts of bumps and lines on ’em. You got your plain ol’ smooth ones, then the ones that look all old and beat up, even if they’re new. And some got these deep grooves, like somebody took a comb to ’em.
When you’re talkin’ about them paver bricks, the ones they use for walkin’ on, they got different sizes too. Some are skinny, some are fat, some are long, some are short. You got your 4 by 2 by 7 and 5/8 inch ones, your 4 by 1 by 7 and 5/8 inch ones, then the ones that are a little bit longer, 4 by 2 by 8 inch, and the skinnier ones, 4 by 1 by 8 inch. And then you got these other ones, 4 by 2 by 7 and 5/8 inch again, I guess they use those for somethin’ different.
Now, this Interstate Brick company, they seem to have a whole bunch of them bricks. Different colors, different feels, different sizes, all sorts of stuff. They say they’re the best in the business, makin’ the bricks that hold up houses and whatnot. They got these little bricks, the kind you put on the outside of the house to make it look pretty, and they come in all them sizes, like the regular ones, the big ones, and the ones they call utility size, whatever that means.
And they say their bricks are bigger, cheaper, and better. Well, I don’t know about all that, but they sure do have a lot of choices. They even make them hardscape things, you know, for patios and walkways and stuff. So, if you’re lookin’ for bricks, I guess they’re a good place to start.
If you want a brick that looks smooth, or maybe something with a bit more texture, well you’re not alone. People like what they like. Sometimes the smooth ones look clean and modern, and sometimes that’s nice. But then you see them rough ones, and they remind you of an old building or an old wall, you know? There’s just somethin’ about a wall that been there a long time, seen a lot of things.
Anyways, when it comes to pickin’ out the right brick color, it’s like pickin’ out the right dress for church. You gotta think about what looks good, what feels right, and what’s gonna last. And don’t be afraid to ask for help, there’s plenty of folks who know more about this stuff than I do. But at least now you know a little somethin’ about them interstate brick colors, right?
So next time you’re lookin’ at a brick wall, or maybe even thinkin’ about buildin’ somethin’ yourself, you’ll remember what I told ya. It ain’t just about the color, it’s about the whole dang brick, from the dirt it’s made of to the way it feels in your hand. And that’s about all I gotta say about that.
