Some folks say red bricks mean different things in different places. Out west, they say it means somethin’ is strong and gonna last. Over in the east, they think it brings good luck and money. I don’t know about all that, but I know a good brick when I see one.

They got holes in ‘em, so they ain’t quite as heavy as the red ones, but they still seem strong enough. I ain’t built nothin’ with ‘em myself, but I seen ‘em on some of them new houses they puttin’ up down the road.
I reckon these black bricks are made different than the red ones, maybe with different stuff mixed in. They probably use machines to make ‘em these days, not just folks diggin’ in the dirt. That’s just how things are now, all modern and fast. But whether they’re red or black, bricks are bricks. They build things, keep us safe and warm. That’s the important part, ain’t it?
