Alright, let’s talk about them fake bricks, the ones they call “exterior faux brick.” I ain’t no fancy builder or nothing, but I seen enough houses in my time to know a thing or two.
What are these faux bricks anyway? Well, they ain’t the real deal, that’s for sure. They’re made to look like bricks, but they’re somethin’ else entirely. Some are made of this stuff they call “polyurethane,” sounds fancy, huh? It’s like a hard plastic, I reckon. Others are made of, well, I don’t rightly know, some kind of mix-mash of stuff. But the point is, they’re cheaper and easier to put up than real bricks, that’s what matters.
Now, why would anyone want fake bricks? Listen, real bricks are heavy, real heavy. And they take a long time to lay, and you gotta hire someone who knows what they’re doin’, which costs a pretty penny. These fake bricks, though, they’re light as a feather, practically. You can slap ’em up yourself, easy peasy. And they don’t cost near as much.
- Easy to put up: Like I said, even I could probably do it, and I ain’t never built nothin’ more complicated than a chicken coop.
- Cheap as chips: Compared to real bricks, these things are practically givin’ ’em away. You can save a whole heap of money.
- Looks pretty good: I gotta admit, some of these fake bricks, they look darn good. You can hardly tell the difference from the road. They got all sorts of colors and styles too.
You can get all sorts of looks with these fake bricks, too. Some look like them old-timey bricks, all rough and worn. Others look smooth and modern. They got red ones, brown ones, even white ones! You can pick whatever tickles your fancy. I seen some that look like stacked stones, real pretty they were, like somethin’ you’d see on a fancy house in the city. They call ’em “stacked stone veneer panels,” I think. Sounded mighty important.
Where do you get these fake bricks? Well, I seen ’em at that big store, Home Depot, they got all sorts of things there. They got different sizes, too. Some are little, some are big. Some come in panels, so you can cover a big area real quick. I even seen some that are fire-resistant, which sounds like a good idea to me. Don’t want your house catching on fire, now do ya?
They even got these fake bricks that look like they been painted by hand, they say. Makes ’em look more real, I guess. They call that “tumbled brick” look. I dunno, looks nice though. And they got different colors, like “Desert Sunrise” or “Arctic White.” Fancy names for just plain brown and white, if you ask me.
Now, I ain’t sayin’ fake bricks are better than real bricks. Real bricks are strong and they last a long time. But if you’re lookin’ to save some money and do it yourself, these fake bricks ain’t a bad way to go. Just make sure you get the kind that’s made for the outside of your house, the “exterior” kind. You don’t want your bricks fallin’ off the first time it rains, now do ya?
So, to sum it up, exterior faux brick is a good option if you want something that’s easy to install, cheap, and looks decent. It ain’t the real McCoy, but it’ll do the job. Just make sure you do your research and get the right kind for your house. And don’t be afraid to ask for help at the store, those young folks know more about this stuff than I do.
And one more thing, if you decide to use these faux bricks, make sure you measure right! You don’t want to end up with too few, or too many. Measure twice, cut once, that’s what my old pappy used to say. Good advice, that is.
