So, I’ve been meaning to build this fire pit in my backyard, right? Finally got around to it last weekend. First things first, I needed fire bricks. You know, those special bricks that can handle the heat without cracking up. Not your regular house bricks, mind you.
I did a little digging online and found out that Lowe’s is a good place to get them. So, I hopped in my truck and drove down to the nearest store. I walked in, and boy, was I glad they had a whole section for this stuff. It wasn’t just a few bricks tossed in a corner. They had rows of them!
- Different colors, too.
- I went with the classic firebrick red.
- Just felt right for a fire pit, you know?
They also had some other options, but red was the way to go for me. I grabbed a shopping cart, started loading up those bricks. They were heavier than I expected! Good thing I wore my work boots.
Getting Them Home
After paying, I had to get these bad boys to my truck. Let me tell you, it was a workout. I probably should’ve asked for help, but I’m stubborn like that. Anyway, I managed to get them all loaded up, drove home, and unloaded them again. My back was definitely feeling it by then!
But you know what? It was totally worth it. I followed the instructions I found online, carefully laying each brick. No mortar needed, just fitting them snugly together. It was like a giant puzzle. Took me a good few hours, but I finally got it done. Stepped back, admired my handiwork, and thought, “Yeah, that’s a fire pit alright.”
Next step: having a bonfire with friends! I’ll be sure to share some photos when we do.
