Okay, so I’ve been seeing these brick oven pizza kits all over the place and finally decided to grab one and give it a shot. I mean, who doesn’t love a good, crispy, brick-oven-style pizza? I’m no chef, but I do enjoy cooking, especially when it involves potentially delicious results.
Getting Started
First things first, I unboxed the kit. It came with a pizza stone, a big metal peel (that’s the thing you use to slide the pizza in and out), and some instructions. The instructions were pretty basic, which is good because I’m all about keeping things simple.

Prepping the Dough
Next up, I made some pizza dough. I just used a simple recipe I found – flour, water, yeast, a little salt, and a touch of sugar. I kneaded that dough for a good while until it was nice and smooth, then let it rise in a warm spot for about an hour. You want it to get all puffy and doubled in size.
Firing Up the Oven
While the dough was doing its thing, I preheated my oven. I have a regular home oven not a real brick oven. I cranked it up as high as it would go – like 500 degrees Fahrenheit. The instructions said to put the pizza stone in the cold oven and let it heat up with the * part is important, don’t skip it!
Building the Pizza
Once the dough had risen, I punched it down (that’s always fun) and rolled it out into a circle. I use my favorite sauce and toppings to build my pizza.
- I spread a thin layer of my favorite tomato sauce on the dough.
- Then I sprinkled on a generous amount of mozzarella cheese.
- Finally, I added my toppings.
Baking Time!
Now for the moment of truth. I dusted the metal peel with some cornmeal (this helps the pizza slide off easily). Then I carefully transferred the pizza onto the peel and slid it onto the hot pizza stone in the oven.
The Result
I baked the pizza for that time until the crust was golden brown and the cheese was all bubbly and melted.I was surprised at the results. It wasn’t exactly like a pizza from a real brick oven, but it was pretty darn close! The crust was definitely crispier than usual, and the cheese had that nice, slightly charred flavor.
All in all, I’m calling this a win. The pizza kit was easy to use, and the pizza was a delicious. I will definitely be making this one again soon.
