Well now, let’s talk about this here “block carbon” thing. Don’t rightly know what all the fancy words mean, but I reckon it’s about keepin’ the air clean and not wastin’ stuff. That’s somethin’ I can get behind, ya know?
First off, them city folks use a whole lotta power, burnin’ all that… uh… fossil fuels, they call it. Like gas and coal. We gotta use less of that stuff. Makes the air all nasty. My old man used to say, “waste not, want not,” and that applies here too. We should be lookin’ at that sun power, the wind, and even the water to make electricity. Them things are free, just gotta figure out how to catch ‘em.
- Think about it, them windmills spinnin’ round, ain’t that somethin’? Clean energy, they say.
- And the sun beatin’ down, why not use that heat to make power? I hear they got these things called solar panels, put ‘em on your roof and bam, you got electricity. Fancy, huh?
Now, talkin’ about houses, gotta keep ‘em warm in the winter and cool in the summer without wastin’ power. Put in some good stuff in the walls, what they call insulation, to keep the heat in or out. And them fancy lights, the ones that don’t use much juice, those are good too. Don’t need to be lightin’ up the whole dang neighborhood at night, just enough to see where you’re goin’. And them thermostats you can set, so you ain’t wastin’ heat or air conditionin’ when you ain’t home? Smart stuff, I tell ya.
Then there’s this whole livin’ off the land thing. Grow your own food if you can, it tastes better anyways. And don’t be throwin’ everything away! Fix things if they’re broke, use ‘em again if you can. That’s what my grandma used to do. We didn’t have much, but we made do. We used everything until it couldn’t be used no more. Now they got all this plastic stuff, just throwin’ it away after one use. That ain’t right.
Sustainability, they call it. Sounds fancy, but it just means don’t use up everything all at once. Leave somethin’ for the young’uns. If you can use somethin’ again, do it. If you can fix somethin’, fix it. Don’t be so quick to buy new all the time. That’s just common sense, ain’t it? And them plastic water bottles? Forget about it! Get yourself a good ol’ reusable one.
And speakin’ of wastin’ water, them showers, they use a lot of it. Don’t be standin’ in there all day long. Get in, get clean, get out. Every little bit helps, ya know? And if you got the space, put up them solar panels I was talkin’ about. Or get one of them solar water heaters. They say you can even use the sun to charge your phone now. Who woulda thunk it?
You know, it ain’t always easy to change your ways, but there’s a bunch of little things you can do every day. Turn off the lights when you leave a room. Don’t let the water run when you’re brushin’ your teeth. Walk or ride your bike if you can, instead of drivin’ that car all the time. And for goodness sake, recycle! Separate your trash, put the paper in one bin, the plastic in another. It ain’t rocket science.
This whole “blockin’ carbon” thing, it’s about doin’ what’s right. Treatin’ the earth with respect, not wastin’ stuff, and lookin’ out for the future. It’s about livin’ a good life, a simple life, and not takin’ more than you need. That’s what I always say, anyway. And you know what? It saves you money too. Who doesn’t like that?
So, there you have it. A few thoughts on this here “block carbon” business, from a simple woman. Nothin’ too fancy, just plain ol’ common sense, if you ask me.
