Okay, let’s talk about how bricks are made. It’s not rocket science, but it is kind of interesting if you think about it.
First off, I got a bunch of dirt and rocks and stuff. You gotta crush this stuff up good, really make it into a powder. I used this big machine called a jaw crusher, it’s like a giant metal mouth that chomps down on rocks and smashes them. And then I used another machine, I think they called it a separator, to make sure everything was ground up evenly. It was messy work, I tell ya, dust everywhere.
Next, I got this clay stuff, and I mixed it with the ground-up dirt and rocks. It’s important to make sure it is completely dug up from the ground. The dirt was dug up and mixed well. It took some doing, you gotta get the mixture just right, not too wet, not too dry. I just kind of eyeballed it until it felt like it would hold its shape.
- Mixing things up: Getting the dirt and clay and blending it.
- Getting the right feel: Not too wet, not too dry, just like Goldilocks!
After that, I found this machine that pushed the clay mix through this hole, like a giant Play-Doh machine. It makes long pieces shaped like bricks. Then, some saws or wires, I guess, are used to cut it into smaller pieces. This part was pretty cool to watch. It’s like slicing a big loaf of bread, only it’s a loaf of clay that’s gonna become a brick.

Stacking Time
Then, I just stacked these fresh bricks up in layers, making sure to leave some space in between for air to get through. That’s about it, really. There is some drying and baking involved I think, but I didn’t get that far.
So, yeah, that’s my little adventure into how bricks are made. It was a lot of work, but I think it was worth it. I learned something new, and now I have a pile of bricks. Not sure what I’m gonna do with them, maybe build a little wall or something. We’ll see.
