So, I set out to find some cheap bricks for my latest project, and let me tell you, it was a bit of a journey. I started by hitting up all the usual spots – you know, the big home improvement stores. Browsed around, checked out their stock, and, well, the prices weren’t exactly what I’d call “cheap.”
But I wasn’t about to give up that easily. I’ve been around the block a few times, and I know there are always better deals to be found if you’re willing to put in the work. So, I started getting creative. I checked out some smaller, local building supply places. You know, the kind of places that don’t have fancy showrooms but often have better prices.
And guess what? It paid off! I found a few spots that had decent bricks for way less than those big stores. Some of them even had used bricks, which were even cheaper and had that cool, worn look I actually kind of liked. I grabbed some different kinds, some were made of clay, some were red-orange, they are pretty, and some were just regular old gray, to see what would work best for my project.
Here’s what I picked up:
- Red Clay Bricks: These were the cheapest, but they had a pretty cool color. I got these for about $0.45 each.
- Gray Concrete Bricks: A bit more expensive, around $0.70 each, but tougher.
- Used Bricks: Found a bunch of mixed ones for just $0.20 each! They’re not perfect, but they’ve got character.
After getting them home, I started playing around with different layouts, I tried different ways of laying the bricks to see what looked best, and eventually, I figured out a pattern that I liked. Then came the fun part – actually laying the bricks. I’d never done it before, so I watched a bunch of videos online, grabbed some mortar, and got to work.
It was messy, I won’t lie. Mortar everywhere, bricks not quite lining up, the whole nine yards. But slowly but surely, my little project started taking shape. I kept at it, learned from my mistakes, and after a few days of hard work, I finally had my brick project finished.
And you know what? It looked pretty darn good, if I do say so myself. Not perfect, mind you, but it had that rustic, handmade charm that I was going for. And the best part? I did it all without breaking the bank, thanks to those cheap bricks I found. So yeah, that’s my story about finding and using cheap bricks. It was a bit of an adventure, but I’m happy with how it all turned out. And maybe it will work for you!
