So I saw this guy online talking about redoing his yard, and he mentioned using white bricks. Got me thinking, you know? I’ve got that patch out back that’s just dirt and weeds. Maybe some white bricks would class it up a bit. So, I started looking into it.
Where to Find White Bricks
First thing, I hit up the usual spots – you know, the big home improvement stores. Figured they’d have a decent selection. And they did, sort of. Found some that were okay, but not exactly what I was picturing. They were more like off-white, or had this weird texture. Plus, they were kinda pricey.
Then, I started looking online, you know, just Googling “white bricks for sale” and browsing around. Found a bunch of smaller suppliers that way. Some of them had some really nice-looking bricks – pure white, smooth finish, the whole deal.
- Checked out local building suppliers: Visited a couple of smaller places in town. Found one that had a decent selection, and the prices were a bit better than the big stores.
- Browsed online marketplaces: Found some listings there, but you never quite know what you are gonna get, you know? I was a little hesitant to buy something like bricks without seeing them in person.
- Asked around: Mentioned it to a buddy of mine who’s a contractor. He gave me the name of a place that specializes in salvaged building materials. Figured I’d give it a shot.
Getting My Hands Dirty
So, I ended up finding the perfect bricks at that salvage place my buddy told me about. They were exactly what I was looking for – a clean, bright white, and they had that nice, smooth finish I wanted. Plus, they were way cheaper than anything else I’d seen. Score!
Getting them home was a bit of a workout. I had to make a couple of trips with my truck, and let me tell you, those things are heavy. But I managed to get them all unloaded and stacked in the backyard. It is a good start, at least.
Next step is actually laying them. I’ve been watching some videos online, and it doesn’t seem too complicated. Just gotta make sure the ground is level, lay down some sand, and then start putting the bricks in place. I’m thinking of doing a simple running bond pattern. Should be pretty straightforward. And hey, even if I mess up a little, it’ll just add to the charm, right?
Anyways, that’s where I’m at with this whole white brick adventure. I’ll keep you posted on how the actual brick-laying goes. Wish me luck!
