Well, let me tell ya somethin’ ’bout them multi-colored bricks. You know, the ones folks use to build houses and stuff? Used to be, bricks was just plain red, like the dirt in my backyard after a good rain. But these days, they got all sorts of colors, like a rainbow threw up on a brick pile.
I heard tell there’s three things that make a brick that color. First off, it’s the clay, you know, the mud they use to make the brick. That’s the color you see if you break it right in two. Then, they go and put sand and stuff on it, and sometimes even them fancy color powders. Finally, it’s all about how they bake ’em in them big ovens, the kilns they call ’em.
Now, why would someone want a multi-colored brick, you ask? Well, I reckon it makes things look a bit more lively. You see them fancy houses in town, they got bricks that go from dark to light, like a sunrise on a wall. They call it a “gradient,” like them fancy folks at the city hall. Sounds like somethin’ you’d put in your car, but what do I know?
Mixing and Matching Them Bricks
- You can mix different color bricks to make a wall look pretty.
- Some bricks are rough, some are smooth, you can mix them too.
- They even got different sizes, big ones and small ones, for different looks.
I seen pictures of houses with all sorts of brick patterns, some with diamonds and such. Must take a lot of figurin’ to get it all right. Them bricklayers, they earn their keep, I tell ya. It ain’t just slappin’ mud together.
Speaking of colors, I seen some bricks as black as coal. Don’t know how they get ’em that dark, but they do. Guess it’s all in what you put in the mix and how you bake it.
If you’re thinkin’ about buildin’ somethin’ with these multi-colored bricks, you best do your homework. Go look at pictures, they got books and websites full of ’em. Houzz, they call it, got all sorts of ideas. You can find all kind of pictures there, they got all the multi-colored bricks you can shake a stick at. See what you like, then talk to a bricklayer. They’ll know what to do.
And remember, a good house ain’t just about pretty bricks, it’s about strong walls and a roof that don’t leak. Don’t get so caught up in the colors that you forget the important stuff. A solid house, that’s what matters. But a little color never hurt nobody, I reckon.
So, whether you want a plain red brick house or a fancy multi-colored one, it’s all up to you. Just make sure it’s built strong and will keep you warm in the winter and cool in the summer. That’s what I always say.
And one more thing, don’t go spendin’ all your money on them fancy bricks if you ain’t got enough left over for a good porch swing. You need a place to sit and admire your handiwork, after all.
