Man, you wouldn’t believe the day I had! So, I’ve got this pile of old bricks sitting in my backyard, right? Leftover from that patio project I did last summer. They’ve just been taking up space, and honestly, they were kind of an eyesore. I thought, “I gotta get rid of these things.” But how?
First, I tried to give them away for free. I posted something online, like those freebie sites, you know? But no one was interested. Zero! Can you believe it? Guess no one’s building anything cool these days.
Then, I thought, maybe I can recycle them. But a lot of these bricks are busted up – not exactly in tip-top shape. I looked up some recycling places, but it seemed like a big hassle for a bunch of broken bricks.
Scraping by, Literally
Then I got this idea. Maybe I could just break them down myself and dump them somewhere. I got out a hammer and started smashing. Let me tell you, it was a workout! Brick dust everywhere, my arms were killing me, and it was loud as heck. I think my neighbors were starting to wonder what I was up to.
After a while, I had a big pile of brick chunks and dust. Then I tried calling one of those junk removal places, you know, the ones with the catchy jingles on the radio? That was a hard work. They wanted to charge me an arm and a leg just to haul away a pile of broken bricks! No way was I paying that much.
Selling the Smashed Goods
So, here’s what I ended up doing. I decided to try to sell them. Yeah, you heard that right, sell the broken bricks! I figured, someone out there must have a use for crushed-up bricks, right? Maybe for some kind of landscaping project or something.
I took some pictures, wrote up a quick ad, and posted it online. I described it as “crushed brick for landscaping or fill” and put a cheap price on it. And guess what? Someone actually bought it! This guy showed up with a truck, and we loaded up all the brick pieces. He said he was going to use it as a base for a gravel path. Who would’ve thought?
- Tried giving them away for free: Nobody wanted them.
- Thought about recycling: Too much of a hassle.
- Broke them down myself: Hard work, but it paid off.
- Junk removal was too expensive: They wanted too much money.
- Sold the crushed bricks: Success!
In the end, I got rid of those bricks, made a little cash, and learned that even broken stuff can be useful to someone. It was a wild day, but hey, that’s just another crazy story in my DIY adventures!
