Alright, let’s talk about them black bricks. You know, the ones that make your house look all fancy-like.
I seen ’em at the store the other day. My, oh my, they was pretty. Real dark and smooth, not like them rough red ones we used to have on the old farm. These here black bricks, they make a house look like it belongs to some big shot, ya know? Not like my old place, God rest its soul.
- First off, they look different. Ain’t nobody in my holler got a black brick house. Makes ya stand out, I reckon.
- Then they say these black bricks keep your house cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. Now, that sounds like a good deal to me. Saving money on them electric bills, that’s always a good thing. Lord knows them bills just keep going up and up.
But listen here, these black bricks ain’t cheap. Nope, they cost a pretty penny more than them red ones. But I guess if you want something nice, you gotta pay for it. That’s just how the world works, ain’t it? You get what you pay for.
Now, some folks say these black bricks are strong too. They last a long time, they say. Well, I reckon that’s important. You don’t want your house falling apart after a few years, do ya? Especially with them storms we been having lately. The wind blows somethin’ fierce sometimes, I tell ya.
I heard tell that these black bricks are good for inside the house too. You can put ’em around your fireplace, or make a fancy wall in your living room. Now, that would be somethin’, wouldn’t it? Imagine having a black brick fireplace! All cozy and warm on a cold winter night. Just like the picture shows.
But here’s the thing that worries me. I seen some houses with these black bricks, and they got them funny green and black spots on ’em. Looks like mold or somethin’. They say it’s somethin’ called “lichen”. Sounds nasty to me. I don’t want no green spots on my pretty black bricks, no sirree. I wonder how you get rid of them spots. Maybe you gotta scrub ’em with somethin’. Seems like a lot of work, if you ask me.
They also got different kinds of black bricks, I heard. Some are smooth, some are rough, some are shiny, some are dull. It’s enough to make your head spin! I guess you gotta pick the ones you like the best. And don’t forget, some of them come from far away, cross the ocean even! They call it “EU” or something, sound fancy but probably just means they cost even more.
So, are these black bricks worth the money? Well, I reckon it depends. If you want a house that looks fancy and different, and you don’t mind paying a little extra, then maybe they are. But if you’re on a tight budget, like most folks I know, then maybe them plain old red bricks are good enough. They do the job, after all. Keeps the wind and rain out, that’s what matters most. You gotta decide what’s important to you. A pretty house or money in your pocket?
And don’t forget about them green spots! You gotta figure out how to keep them away. Maybe you gotta wash the bricks every now and then. Or maybe there’s some kinda special spray you can use. I don’t know, but it’s somethin’ to think about before you spend all that money on them black bricks.
At the end of the day, it’s your house, your money. You do what you think is best. Me? I’m just an old woman with an opinion. But I tell ya, them black bricks sure are somethin’ to look at.
Anyways, if you have the money, go for it, it’s your money, make your house look nice. Just make sure you get a good price and that the bricks are the real deal, not no cheap knock-offs, you know what I mean? Folks always tryin’ to rip each other off these days. It’s a shame, really it is.
And that’s all I gotta say about them black bricks. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make myself some supper. My stomach’s rumblin’ somethin’ fierce.
