Well now, let me tell ya a little somethin’ ’bout this here Schell’s Firebrick beer. It’s a type of beer they call Vienna Lager, y’know, all amber and pretty-like, and it’s brewed by them folks over at August Schell Brewing Company, all the way in New Ulm. It’s been around since 1999, so it’s not some newfangled thing, but it sure is a fine drink, I’ll tell ya that.
This Firebrick beer, well, it’s named after them firebricks they use in old boilers, the ones that line the inside and help keep things safe from gettin’ too hot. I reckon they thought the beer oughta be just as sturdy and reliable as them bricks, and they weren’t wrong. You take a sip of it, and you can taste a little hop in there, but it ain’t too much, not like them bitter ones that make your mouth pucker. It’s got a nice, mild flavor, with just a bit of sweetness from the malt, like a warm breeze on a cool day.
Now, I ain’t no expert on all them fancy brewing terms, but I know what I like, and this Firebrick hits the spot. It’s smooth, not too heavy, and it’ll go down easy if you’re sittin’ back after a long day of workin’ in the fields, or just takin’ a break from whatever chores ya got around the house.
If you’re lookin’ to try somethin’ different, this here beer might be right up your alley. It ain’t like them light beers that don’t have much taste to ’em, but it ain’t heavy like them dark beers either. It’s right in the middle, just the way I like things to be.
Now, I heard tell that Firebrick is also good for the fireplace, though I ain’t exactly sure how. Apparently, them firebricks in fireplaces help keep things from gettin’ too hot and dangerous-like. Makes sense, don’t it? You wouldn’t want your fireplace burnin’ up your whole house, would ya? I reckon that’s what they was thinkin’ when they came up with this beer’s name, somethin’ sturdy and safe. Just like a good firebrick, it’ll keep you warm without goin’ overboard and causin’ a mess.
So, if you find yourself over in New Ulm, or wherever you can get your hands on this Schell’s Firebrick, I’d say give it a try. I reckon you’ll like it, especially if you’re partial to a nice, amber beer that don’t hit you too hard but still gives you somethin’ to enjoy.
And that’s all I got to say about it. Don’t take my word for it, though. Try it out for yourself and see if it ain’t just the drink for a nice, easy evenin’ after all the work’s done.
