Alright, let’s talk about these here crystal bricks, or whatever fancy name they got. I ain’t no expert, ya know, just an old woman who’s seen a thing or two. But I can tell ya, these things ain’t like the regular bricks we used to build houses with back in the day.
First off, they say these crystal bricks are strong, stronger than them concrete blocks even. Imagine that! They heat ’em up real good, like firin’ pottery, and somethin’ happens inside, makes ‘em tough as nails. They call it quartz and mullite, sounds like some kinda fancy disease, but it makes them bricks hard and shiny, like glass. They can stand up to all sorts of weather, rain or shine, hot or cold, don’t matter none.
Now, these bricks, they ain’t just plain old red neither. You got all sorts of colors, shapes, and sizes. Some are smooth, some are bumpy, some are clear like a window, some are colored like them fancy candies they sell in town. I saw some in a magazine once, shiny and pretty, made a whole wall in a bathroom. Looked real nice, I tell ya, but I bet it costs a pretty penny.
- Strong like bull: They say these bricks can hold up a lot of weight, more than them old clay bricks for sure.
- Pretty as a picture: All them colors and shapes, you can make yer house look like a palace, if you got the money.
- Weather don’t bother ‘em: Rain, snow, sunshine, these bricks don’t care, they just stay put.
They got these other bricks too, the clay ones. Them’s the ones we used to use, the ones that are kinda reddish and rough. They been around forever, they say. Folks still use ‘em, especially for fireplaces. They hold the heat real good, keep ya warm all winter long. And they’re cheaper too, that’s for sure. You can get ‘em in all sorts of colors too, but mostly they’re that red color, ya know, like the dirt in the fields.
Then there’s these AAC blocks, I heard about ’em on the TV. They’re light as a feather, they say, but strong too. I dunno, seems kinda strange to me, how somethin’ so light can hold up a house. But folks are usin’ ’em, so they must be alright, I guess. They say they’re good for keepin’ the house warm in the winter and cool in the summer, which sounds mighty fine to me.
You can buy these crystal bricks, or any kinda bricks for that matter, all over the place now. They got stores just for bricks, imagine that! And you can even buy ‘em online, on that there internet thing. My grandson showed me once, you just click a few buttons and they bring ‘em right to your door. Ain’t that somethin’? But I still like goin’ to the store, seein’ things with my own eyes, touchin’ ‘em with my own hands. That’s how I was raised.
So, if you’re buildin’ a house, or just fixin’ up yer old one, you got lots of choices these days. You got yer crystal bricks, yer clay bricks, yer AAC blocks, and who knows what else they’ll come up with next. Just gotta figure out what you need and how much money you got to spend. Me, I’m stickin’ with my old house, it’s seen me through a lot, and it’ll see me through the rest of my days. But if I was younger, and had a bit more money, I might just build me a little house out of them shiny crystal bricks, just to see what it’s like. Might be kinda fancy, ya know?
