Alright, let’s talk about this here “Sioux City Brick,” whatever that is. Sounds fancy, but I’ll tell ya like it is, the way I see it.

- And they got some special kind of bricks too, with some kinda coating on ’em. “Glaze,” “klaycoat,” and “engobe,” they call it. Sounds like somethin’ you put on your Sunday ham, but I guess it makes the bricks last longer or somethin’.
They make these fancy coated bricks over in a place called Summerville, at a place called the Hanley Plant. I ain’t never been there, but I bet it’s a big ol’ factory, makin’ bricks all day long.
And get this, another big company, “Brickworks North America,” they bought up Sioux City Brick and Glen-Gery too. Sounds like a whole lotta money changin’ hands, but I don’t know nothin’ about that. All I know is they still makin’ bricks, and that’s what matters, I reckon.
They talk about “integrity” and “craftsmanship” and “high design.” Big words, them. But I guess it just means they try to make good bricks, bricks that are strong and look nice. And they been doin’ it for a long time, so they must be doin’ somethin’ right.
So, if you need some bricks, I guess Sioux City Brick is a good place to go. They got all kinds, for whatever you’re buildin’. Houses, fireplaces, walls, whatever. They probably got a brick for it. Just don’t go askin’ me about all them fancy names and technical stuff. I’m just tellin’ ya what I heard, ya know?
I tell you what, building with bricks, it’s hard work. I remember my old man, he built our house with bricks, by hand, mind you. Took him forever, but that house stood strong for years. These days, they got machines and all that, makes it easier, I guess. But a good brick is still a good brick, no matter how you make it.
