So, I was thinking about putting up some shelves in my room, you know, to make things look a bit more organized. And I thought, why not go with that classic brick and wood look? It’s got that rustic vibe that I really dig.
First off, I picked out the wood. Needed something sturdy, but also not too heavy. Went to the local hardware store, asked around a bit. I picked the wood and grabbed a bunch of bricks. Nothing fancy, just regular ones. Made sure they were clean, though. Didn’t want any weird stuff on my shelves.
Next up, I figured out where I wanted the shelves to go. Marked the spots on the wall with a pencil. Then came the fun part – stacking the bricks. I placed two bricks side by side for the base, then put the wood on top. It was like building a little tower, one layer at a time.
Honestly, it was pretty straightforward. No drilling, no screws, no anchors, just stacking. Of course, I made sure each layer was level before adding the next one. I used a level tool I found in my dad’s toolbox. Didn’t want my books sliding off, right?
- Choose the shelving board.
- Get some bricks.
- Figure out where to put the shelves.
- Stack bricks, put wood on top.
- Make sure it’s level.
Once I got to the height I wanted, I stopped. Put a few books and some plants on the shelves to test it out. Looks pretty cool, if I do say so myself. It’s not super fancy, but it gets the job done. Plus, it adds a bit of character to the room.
The whole thing took me, like, an afternoon. Easy peasy. I know it’s just shelves but it’s kind of cool when you make something your own. Might try to build some more, and put more interesting things on my shelves.
