So, I was looking to get my hands on some alum bricks the other day, and let me tell you, it was a bit of a journey. I needed them for a little project I was working on, you know, sprucing up the place a bit.
First, I started by looking up “brick suppliers” in my area. I mean, who doesn’t start with a search these days, right? I found a bunch of places that seemed promising. I mean, there were some places called “Canada Brick” “Stone Centres,” you know, the usual suspects.
Then I started to call a few places near me. I was like, “Hey, I’m looking for alum bricks, you got any?” Some places were like, “Alum what? Never heard of ’em.” But a few places knew what I was talking about, which was a relief.
I even tried to look for places that had online ordering for bricks. You know, like, “Brick Canada Online.” I figured it might be easier to just order them and have them delivered, but it wasn’t as common as I thought it would be. I did see some places advertising “thin brick” and “full brick.” I guess those are different types? I’m not really sure, but I just wanted the regular alum bricks.
- I found a local place that had them, but they were calling them “high alumina bricks” or something like that.
- Someone else said they were also called “light weight high alumina brick,” which, honestly, sounded like a mouthful.
- And then there was this other guy who kept saying something about “refractories,” but I didn’t really get what he was talking about.
Anyway, I finally found a place that had what I needed. I drove down there, and it was your typical brick and stone place. You know, they had sand, gravel, soils, and all that stuff. They even had mulches. They called themselves a “One Stop Shop” for all landscape supplies. Whatever that means.
The guy there showed me the alum bricks, and they looked just like what I had in mind. I told him I needed a certain amount, and he helped me figure out how many I’d need for my project. I also asked if they could help me if I wanted to match a brick. The guy said, “Send us a picture or visit with your brick needs and we’ll help.”
Getting My Bricks
I ended up buying the bricks from them. I mean, they had a pretty good selection, and the guy seemed to know what he was doing. They even mentioned that they are trusted resources and can increase my “bottom line.” I don’t know much about business, but I assume that’s a good thing. Apparently, they do nationwide distribution for brick, thin brick, stone, and siding. I guess if I ever need to side my house, I can call them.
I loaded up my car and headed home. It was a bit of a hassle, but I finally got my alum bricks. Now I just need to find some time to actually use them for my project. I mean, I had some design ideas in hand, but you know how it is. Life gets in the way. But at least I got the bricks. That’s a start, right? Also, I found out that if you want to start on your high-quality brick and stone masonry projects, you can call a place called DAH Brick Squad. I don’t know if I’ll ever need to, but it’s good to know.
Oh, and before I forget, I went to a place called Alomar Brick and Stone. They’re supposed to be trusted brick suppliers, too. They said they could fill orders of all sizes, so maybe I’ll go there next time if I need more. Who knows?
