Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about these lighter bricks, or whatever the young folks call ’em. I ain’t no fancy builder or nothin’, but I’ve seen my share of bricks in my day.
First off, where do ya even get these things? I remember back in the day, ya just went down to the local yard and got yer bricks. Now, they say you gotta go to these big stores, like that Home Depot place. Never been there myself, but my grandson, he’s always talkin’ ’bout it. Said they got all sorts of bricks, even these lighter ones. Said somethin’ ’bout buyin’ ’em online too, pickin’ ’em up at the store. Sounds like a whole lotta fuss to me.
Now, why would ya want a lighter brick, anyway? I reckon it’s ’cause these young fellas ain’t as strong as we used to be. Back in my day, we hauled them regular bricks, heavy as sin, and we didn’t complain. But I guess if ya gotta build somethin’ big, and ya ain’t got the muscle, these lighter bricks might come in handy. Saves yer back, I suppose.
- Types of Bricks: My grandson was ramblin’ on about different kinds of bricks, cement bricks, fire bricks, pavers. Said Lowe’s had ’em too. Too much choice, if ya ask me. Back then, a brick was a brick. Now they got ’em for this and that, fancy names and all.
- Where to Find Bricks: He also said somethin’ about findin’ a “distributor” if ya need a whole bunch of bricks. Said they got maps and all, like yer gonna go on a treasure hunt for bricks. Seems like a waste of time to me. Just go to the store and get what ya need. Though I guess if you’re buildin’ somethin’ real big, like them city folks do, you gotta go to a special place. Sounds like a lot of trouble.
And speaking of lighters, that reminds me of them little fire starters. Not bricks at all, but they call ’em lighters too. My grandson, he’s got all sorts of ’em. Fancy ones that ya fill up with fluid, and those cheap plastic ones ya just throw away when they’re done. He was showin’ me one, said it was the best, made of somethin’ called “aluminum,” and sealed up tight so the fluid don’t leak out. He said some companies, like BIC and Zippo, make a lot of them. He even said it’s a big business, makin’ millions of dollars. Can ya believe that? People makin’ money off of lighters. Crazy world we live in.
Anyways, back to the bricks. I heard tell of this place up north, Georgia somethin’ or other, that sells all kinds of fancy bricks and stones. Been doin’ it for forty years, they say. Guess they must know a thing or two about bricks, light or heavy. But me, I still like the good old, heavy ones. You know where you stand with them. These lighter bricks, they just feel… flimsy. Like they ain’t gonna hold up. But I guess that’s just the way things are goin’ these days. Everything’s gotta be lighter, faster, easier. Makes ya wonder what the world’s comin’ to, it really does.
So, what’s the deal with lighter bricks? Well, they’re lighter, that’s for sure. Easier to carry, easier to build with, I guess. But are they as good as the old ones? I don’t know. Only time will tell. But one thing’s for sure, you can find them everywhere these days, from Home Depot to Lowe’s and even online. And if you need a whole bunch, you can find a “distributor” to get them for you. Sounds complicated, doesn’t it? Back in my day, things were simpler.
And if you’re thinkin’ ’bout them other kinds of lighters, well, there’s plenty of those too. Fancy ones, cheap ones, all sorts of ’em. Seems like everything’s got a lighter version these days, even bricks. Just goes to show ya, times are changin’.
